En moins de 5 heures, j'ai fini le bleu de la partie G!

Less than 5 hours and the blue is done!

In the meantime, I am opening a new bag! En attendant, j'ouvre un nouveau sachet!

En attendant l'occasion de retourner a l'ecole pour finir le blanc de la partie H, j'ai decide d'ouvrir un nouveau sachet et de le trier; chose que je peux faire facilement le soir a la maison. Cette photo vous montre la taille de la lettre qui indique quelle partie on pioche: pas evident a trouver sur un sachet plein de logos bleus avec des milliers de pieces multicolores derriere.

While waiting for the opportunity to go back to school and finish the white of section H, I decided to open a new bag and sort it out, as it is something I can easily do at home in the evening. This picture shows you the size of the letter which is supposed to tell you what section you are doing: not very obvious on a bag covered with blue logos and with thousands of multicolored pieces behind.

Part 1 Almost finished!

Ca y est! les couleurs sont terminees et j'ai presque fini le blanc autour. Mais a cause d'un probleme de place, j'ai du l'apporter a l'ecole et depuis le debut des vacances je n'ai pas eu le temps d'y aller pendant la journee.

That's it! The colours are finished and I am about to finish the white all around too. But because of a lack of space, I had to take the puzzle to school and I haven't had the chance to go work on it since the beginning of the holidays.

Green and red done! Vert et rouge finis!

Here's the result this afternoon, about 16 hours to assemble these two colours. Last colour: yellow and then all the white around the 4 pictures.

Voici le resultat cet apres-midi, il a fallu environ 16 heures pour ces deux couleurs. Il ne reste plus que le jaune et le blanc autour des 4 images.

This is the result after today. I only did about 1 hour 5 mins. I decided to go with pink because it is the colour with the fewest pieces and I figured that once I will be done with the pink it could quickly help me find which part of the puzzle I am doing. Indeed, it would like to know what colour I need so I can work as normal from the bottom edge to the top. First impression: a bit "easier" than I thought, a lot of pieces have really weird shapes. However, I quickly realised that I am going to need those 3-colour pieces to link these groups. + there seems to be 2 shades of pink, so maybe with better daylight, I could work faster! The puzzle mat is now put away but I am hoping to put in a few hours this weekend...

Voici le resultat d'aujourd'hui (2eme jour). Je n'ai fait qu'une heure et 5 minutes. J'ai decide de commencer avec le rose car c'est la couleur avec le moins de pieces. Je me suis dit que si je finissais le rose rapidement, ca pourrait m'aider a trouver quelle partie du puzzle je suis en train de faire. Ainsi, je saurais quelle couleur prendre pour attaquer le puzzle comme d'habitude du bord inferieur vers le haut.

Premiere impression: plus "facile" que ce que j'imaginais. De nombreuses pieces ont des formes bizarres. Cependant, je me rends deja compte que j'ai besoin de ces pieces a trois couleurs pour lier ces petits groupes + on dirait qu'il y a 2 teintes de rose donc peut-etre qu'avec une meilleure lumiere naturelle, je travaillerais plus vite! Le puzzle est enroule dans son tapis et mis de cote mais j'espere en faire quelques heures ce weekend...

Step 1: sorting the pieces / Etape 1: trier les pieces

On the first day, it took me exactly 1 hour 53 minutes to sort out the 4000 pieces of the first bag. As I have absolutely no way to figure out which part of the puzzle I picked, I started dividing the pieces into a lot of different bags: white, green, orange, red, blue, pink, yellow, pieces with an edge, pieces with a writing and lots of tri-colour pieces (black + 2 of the above) that I'll try to add later. I also find a corner, which scared me at first (why not 2 to make either the left or the right side of the puzzle?) but I remembered later from the video that they seemed to have cut the puzzle into "squares of 2 x 2" instead of a strip of 4 x 1. I also didn't seem to have enough pieces with edges to make 1,92m. Hope it is right!

Le premier jour, il m'a fallu exactement 1 heure et 53 minutes pour trier les quelques 4000 pieces du premier sachet. Comme je n'ai absolument aucune facon d'identifier quel sachet j'ai choisi, j'ai commence par separer toutes les pieces en petits sachets: blanches, vertes, oranges, rouges, bleues, roses, jaunes, celles avec un bord, celles avec une ecriture et plein de pieces avec 3 couleurs (noir + 2 autres mentionnees precedemment) que j'ajouterai plus tard. J'ai aussi trouve un coin, ce qui m'a fait peur au debut (pourquoi pas 2 pour faire le cote gauche ou droit du puzzle?) mais je me suis souvenu que sur la video, ils semblaient decouper le puzzle en carre de 2 images sur 2 au lieu d'une bande de 4 images superposees. On ne dirait pas non plus que j'ai assez de pieces avec un bord pour faire un cote d'1m92 donc j'espere que c'est bon!

I've made the order off a French website. I also ordered 7 bottles of glue and 2 "roll your puzzle" carpets to be able to store it in my tiny bedroom. I just have to be patient now. It could take 3 weeks for the puzzle to arrive here in Hong Kong.

Ca y est. J'ai fait ma commande sur un site francais. J'ai aussi pris 7 bouteilles de colle et 2 tapis pour rouler le puzzle et le stocker dans ma petite chambre. Il n'y a plus qu'a patienter maintenant. Il pourrait mettre 3 semaines a arriver jusqu'ici a Hong Kong.
